Weekend storms to exacerbate UK flooding following Storm Frank’s wrath

Following days of flooding rain and gusty winds from Storm Frank, storms will continue to bring spells of rain that will exacerbate the flooding across the United Kingdom.

Storm Frank unleashed heavy rain and gusty winds across much of the British Isles. Some of the highest wind gusts on Tuesday and Wednesday occurred in Scotland. A wind gust of 85 mph (137 km/h) was measured on the island of South Uist.

Rain of up to 85 mm (3.35 inches) fell across parts of Scotland, while rainfall amounts averaged between 40 and 65 mm (1.50 and 2.50 inches) across Wales, northern England and Northern Ireland.
